9月28日 Fuzzy friendI swore for years that I would not get another cat. When B and I get married we will already be a two cat household with mine and his and having lived in a 4 and 5 cat household I believe two is MORE than enough. Two weeks ago yesterday I drove into my driveway to find a crowd of kids across the way playing with a very small kitten. It was love at first site. I came up with every excuse in the book why I couldn't take her home. (The owner was desperate to find her a place.) However when my brother heard my description of her he wanted her from himself. And so they next day I brought home our furry friend. The last two weeks have been crazy trying to adjust to her and her to us. I was a little misled when I got her. She had been orphaned too early and we ended up with a kitten who couldn't clean herself, wouldn't use a litter box, and couldn't drink water from a bowl without trying to drown herself, and couldn't eat solid food. After a couple stressful weeks I am proud to say all of the issues have been overcome. She is still having issues cleaning herself but my big male cat has taken her on as his project and and is teaching her all on his own. She has already turned into "my cat" and after two weeks of searching for her perfect name she is now called "Beija". It means "kiss" in Portuguese. She is a doll and I am having so much fun being her human mommy. I really am working on getting pictures to you very soon. I have had so many issues with the camera and MSN. Sorry for the short entry but I wanted to let you know about my furry baby. Have a great weekend! WR 3月23日 Cat PukeRight now my living situation is pretty bad. (I am moving in May, but more on that later.) I have lived with my roommate for 2 ½ years now. We have been friends for 15. We live in mobile home. My friend owns her home and couldn’t make the payments so I moved in and rented out a room. For the most part we get along ok. But within the last 8-9 months things have digressed.
Between the 2 of us we have 4 cats. I know, I know…that is WAY too many! Only one of them is mine and she has three. Now, I am of the opinion that if a guest visits your home they should not know that you have animals unless they physically SEE the animal or its food and water…and maybe a toy. Guests should not SMELL your pets, nor should they SEE pet hair on furniture. My roommate does not share this opinion. I can come home and spend forever de-hairing furniture only to leave for two days and come back to a house covered in HAIR! I hate that. It gives me the creeps and makes me feel like my skin is crawling.
This problem has been compounded by two things. 1-I have slept on the coach for almost a year now. My room had a mold problem and I kept getting sick. My roommate’s mom hired a guy to fix the floors and when he did he left a gap of almost 2 inches between the wall and the floor so I can see straight outside. There is no mold now…just cold air, bugs, and mice…so I’m STILL on the couch! 2-The house is in utter disarray. Not only are there gaps in my room but all over my end of the house. She had the floors “redone”, but the floor is like a rollercoaster and the new linoleum is pulling up so I do my best not to trip on it and kill myself. My toilet constantly runs so I have to turn it on and off…really obnoxious. My water lines are hooked up backwards…..so I burn myself when I forget. I’m constantly afraid I’m either going to fall through the front steps, or my bathtub will collapse through the floor while I am showering.
*Warning…if you have issues with vomit DO NOT READ the rest of this!
The point of all this background is to tell you what happened this morning. I woke up, crawled off the couch, and jumped into the shower. (Not literally of course. I’m not TRYING to fall through the floor.) When I got out of the shower my roommate was leaving for work. She informed me that one of the cats had thrown up 3 times. She said it was really dark and runny and looked someone was sick. Then she informed me it had to be MY cat because he was pawing at a throw blanket where some of the throw up was.
MY cat is the ONLY healthy cat we have! Hers are ALWAYS puking. We have rushed all of them to the emergency vet. Plus my cat LOVES puke! (I know, that’s sick!) He’s only a year old and he is still in kitten mode and he thinks puke is there to play with. I know this is a silly thing to be upset about but it really ticked me off. She rarely comes home before 11pm which means when I get home I’m the one who gets to clean up her cats puke and then she has the NERVE to accuse MY cat of puking.
Whew…thanks for letting me vent. It’s always easier to vent to people who can’t see my veins pop out of my neck. FYI--In the Animal pictures my cat is the gray one. My roommates cats are the twins, brown and white, and the black and white. WR
